IOWA STATE TRAPSHOOTING ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

July 27, 2008

 

        President Jon Peterson called the 2008 Annual Membership Meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2008, at the ISTA Home Grounds in Cedar Falls with 99 members in attendance. Director’s Don Wickliff, Dan Wood and Barrie Swinbank were present.

        The Secretary read the minutes of the 2007 Annual Meeting. It was moved by Phil Thyer, seconded by Jerry Pierce, to accept the minutes as read. Motion carried.

        The Treasurer’s report for the year and a summary of the state shoot were presented. There were 343 annual memberships issued in 2008 compared to 457 in 2007. The life memberships issued in 2008 were 4 compared to 10 in 2007. Grand total life memberships issued are 737. The daily fees for 2008 were $3,996 compared to $4,112 in 2007. State shoot entries thru Saturday were 4,422 from 5,044 in 2007. Cash assets as of July 20, 2008, were $9,631 compared to $26,655 on July 23, 2007. Total other assets are $567,144.50. Liability to the First State Bank of Colfax is $10,513.40. Gary Dudley moved, Kenneth Brandt seconded, the report is accepted. Motion carried.

        Jon then commented on attendance at our 2008 state shoot from other states. He also thanked the Directors, Alternates, Deb and her family, Wendy, Gene and Charlie, and all others who helped before and during the state shoot. Tom Dentel, ATA Delegate, made a few comments. Dennis Bigelow thanked Tom for his year of service.

Election of President:

        Tom Dentel nominated Jon Peterson, seconded by Mark Scholl. Phil Thyer moved nominations cease, seconded by Gary Dudley, motion carried. Jon Peterson was declared President.

Election of ATA Delegate:

        Pat Lyman nominated Dan Wood, seconded by Dennis Bigelow. R. G. Prucha moved nominations cease, seconded by Mark Scholl, motion carried. Dan Wood was declared ATA Delegate.

Election of ATA Alternate Delegate:

        Phil Thyer nominated Pat Lyman as 1st ATA Alternate Delegate, seconded by Kevin Hartwig. Bev Dominicki nominated Dennis Bigelow as 1st ATA Alternate Delegate, seconded by Steve Manary. R. G. Prucha moved nominations cease, seconded by Steve Manary, motion carried. The vote was then taken by paper ballot and read by Phil Thyer and Bev Dominicki. Pat Lyman was declared 1st ATA Alternate Delegate.

        While the votes were being tallied, Neil Winston, ATA President, commented on various items of the ATA. Mark Scholl commented on the Friday youth shoot which had app. 65 youth in attendance. Jon announced that the dates for the 2009 Iowa State Shoot will be July 21-26. Jon also commented on reclaiming the lead which will be completed this fall, the 2nd Annual High School Shoot held in May, and the clean-up costs from the flood in June, which included replacing two furnaces, two water heaters, and electrical repairs.

        R. G. Prucha nominated Dennis Bigelow as 2nd ATA Alternate Delegate, seconded by Pat Lyman. R. G. Prucha moved nominations cease, seconded by Kevin Hartwig, motion carried. Dennis Bigelow was declared 2nd ATA Alternate Delegate.

        None

New Business:

        A comment was made that it would be nice to have larger camping spots. The Directors will look into the feasibility of larger camping spots.

        A motion was made by Pat Lyman that the meeting adjourn, seconded by Kevin Hartwig. Meeting adjourned at 8:50 am.
